Will My Cordless Phone Not Work If Plugged Into An Outlet That Is Controlled By A Wall Switch?

I just bought a vtech two handset cordless phone system. I’m reading the instructions and it says to make sure that the electrical outlet is not controlled by a wall switch. Why does it say that? I might have to return the phone since the only jack in our house is on a wall where the electrical outlet is controlled by a wall switch. Drat…

    It will work just fine if you don’t turn the switch off. The base needs a power source to work, and if you turn the switch off, it stops working. The reason for telling you not to use a switch controlled plug is simple, you might forget and turn it off, and interruptions in power can damage the batteries, so you might not want a portable phone in that room, or at all–it depends on your habits.

    The manufacturer instruction says not to connect in a switch controlled outlet just to make sure the phone is always powered on.
    Keep the wall outlet ON always.
