Is It Bad To Leave A Cordless Phone On The Base All The Time?

I had someone tell me that it is bad to leave a cordless phone on the base all the time, when it is not in use. Is it really bad for the phone or is this person just full of it?

You didn’t specify what is bad but I assume it is the handset getting hot or battery overcharging.
Not bad. Cordlessphone handsets have a capability to monitor their batteries. Cordlessphone designers call it charging algorithm.
When the battery is drained or newly installed, the handset is at fast charging mode (higher charging current). After 8~10hours(depending on models) of charging, it will shift to slow charge mode (lower charging current). When the battery is full, the handset will charge it ON and OFF just to maintain the battery at full but not over charging.
However, the battery usage is longer if it is allowed to discharge fully before it is charged again.

The battery will degrade faster since it is always charged all the time.

  • It depends on the kind of type of rechargeable battery the phone uses. Rather than regurgitate everything here, this article will tell you everything you need to know:http://www.techlore.com/article/10080/Ge…
